The Uglysuit
The debut, self-titled album from Oklahoma City-based band The Uglysuit is refreshingly bright, with huge, spirit-raising, piano and guitar anthems. The group mixes artful dream pop with a few alt-country flavors (lead singer Israel Hindman's voice mimicks Jeff Tweedy one minute, Conor Oberst the next), and has been compared to the Flaming Lips and the Shins.
Nicfit
Acoustic guitar, original lyrics, punk influences. Check out the song titled "Dope Fiend".
Andrew Bird
Here's a talented multi-instrumentalist and song smith, subdued vocals with well crafted lyrics, and a professional whistler ta boot. Comfort music. A wealth of links here: The WNYC solo performance kicks ass.
Port O'brien
fantastic creative energy and passion from this band - shouting harmonies and foot stomping rhythm - you'll hear it most in I Woke Up Today a song that sends me flying around the room like a little child - Close the Lid is another stand out song
Thao
tangles of guitar, knots of singing, threads of beat and thump make a rope fit for hauling the heavy machinery of your day - Thao
Zippy Josh and the Rag Tag Band
Unique and original acoustic punk rock music. Amazing vocals, interesting lyrics, with a beautiful message.

White Dust Child
White Dust Child is super cooooool. It was started by high school senior Edward Yost to express his status after living homeless in the forest for a week. The two songs he wrote ponder the struggles of homeless and/or solitary and detached life, physically and philosophically. He is living at home again by Order of the State of Maryland and his mom.
The Lay
The Lay is a comedy rap/folk/pop duo from Upstate, NY. Check out their newly posted songs and make sure to add the myspace to your friend list!
Bent By Elephants - This is Water
Bent By Elephants’s debut full-length album This is Water was engineered at Breakglass Studios by Jace Lasek (Besnard Lakes, Patrick Watson, Land of Talk) and was self-released in May 2010. The album’s eleven tracks were recorded live-off-the-floor in only four days. The results capture the dynamic energy of the band’s “spontaneous and compelling” live performance (midnightpoutine.ca).
