3 peoples: one ukelele, one guitar, and more than one drum come together from other places and make some bang up indie pop with extremely cool experimental vocal harmonies and driving rhythms. If you haven't heard these cats yet you will... or if you won't you should... or just listen already! Aren't you tired of reading my ramblings?

freakin' weirdos... in a good way... in a takes you back to childhood, shootin' milk out yer nose laughing, cause your brother made some asinine face, then you throw your syrup covered pancake at him in retaliation, which misses and hits dad kind of way - anyway - they posted their album, Fort, for free download - props to Dan at Said the Gramophone for turning me on to these guys.
Handsome Furs
A synth guitar duo + drum machine constructing picturesque and dynamic sound scapes in the vein of a Thoreau Ziggy Stardust. Listen to their debut Plague Park in entirety here: one of the best albums of 2007.
Enon
Have your cake and eat it. Solid songwriting without sacrificing innovation & experimentation as happens all too often in the underground music scene these days. Sounding much more punk rock here in this live session than their studio work, you get a sense of their concert sound: raw and raucous.
Port O'brien
fantastic creative energy and passion from this band - shouting harmonies and foot stomping rhythm - you'll hear it most in I Woke Up Today a song that sends me flying around the room like a little child - Close the Lid is another stand out song
2008 SXSW BitTorrent
In years past the South by Southwest music festival has released a BitTorrent with DRM-free songs showcasing the artists in the festival. This year you have to download each one individually. However, thanks to this unofficial site, you can get the 2008 showcase (764 artists in all) in one BitTorrent file.
Tapes 'n Tapes
live performance: 3 songs (Jakov's Suite, Cowbell, and Insistor) + interview - the recording's lofi, but their energy and art really shines through - it's bands like this that define an era - they're rock through and through, but they defy comparison to the past
Rob Crow
Rob Crow has churned out some smashing solo material. Without straying to far from his past up-beat and playful style, sharpened during tenures with the likes of Heavy Vegetable and Pinback, his music has matured. There's only one song here, but it's definitely worth a listen.
Caroline
A fragile, angelic voice like a siren's breath against your cheek. Combining minimalist electronic instrumentation, classic arrangements, and vocals that seem supernaturally transparent. - Temporary Residence Limited
The National (Unplugged)
one of the best bands of 2007 - acoustic set here recorded at WOXY - don't pass this over - 3 tracks + interview
